Tell us about your role at Precede, what does your day-to-day look like?
I am part of the legal and operational team at Precede. On the fund-raising side, I negotiate a range of corporate agreements from advisory agreements to joint venture and funds related documentation. I also assist the deal teams on refinancings and sell-downs. Alongside this, I am also part of the team that looks after the management of our corporate structures from a treasury, tax and regulatory perspective and so I tend to work across all teams all of the time! On the operational side, I assist the COO with a range of tasks from negotiating with service providers to investor reporting, insurance procurement, business development and marketing.
What did your career path look like before Precede?
My experience prior to Precede was in private law firms and mainly in fund formation and joint venture teams where I developed the foundation of my commercial legal and regulatory perspective. I have also worked in venture capital and fintech startups. It was in those companies, where I was imprinted with the ‘startup mindset’ and entrepreneurialism. Precede has allowed me the opportunity to be creative and put potential business solutions to senior management and work with them in deployment.
What is your favourite thing about your role?
I feel valued by highly experienced members of the team and enjoy contributing to strategic discussions by overlaying them with legal and regulatory considerations. We also have a fantastic network of professional advisers which I engage regularly with and learn from. The business is moving in a very exciting direction, and I am glad I can be a part of that journey.
How has your past experience helped shape you in your role now?
My past experience at an international law firm and my current legal role have continued to advance my understanding and appreciation of commercial negotiation. Additionally, as an avid programmer, I am constantly seeing new crossovers in legal drafting.
